Mechanics of composite structures using Matlab GUI

The aim of this study is to design a user-friendly software package that carries out in-plane static analysis using Matlab GUI (Graphical User Interface). The program?s potential users will be engineers and academicians who are especially engaged with fiber-reinforced composites. Some computer packages have been released to aid the analyses which are concerned with the design of composite structures. Since solving advanced problems of composite structures requires long processing time with the present computer programs such as C, Fortran, Pascal, Basic etc. and, also finite element packages remain rather cumbersome, software packages which are especially designed for composite materials are needed for efficient calculations. It is envisaged that the proposed thesis work will yield a computer program which addresses the technical needs in a highly visual, user-friendly manner. The designated software is able to analyse composite plates that are exposed not only to mechanical loads but also hygroscopic and thermal loads. In addition, it also provides the option to the user of performing failure analysis which is the conclusive step in designing a structural element.
