Medical database design

This work covers a Hospital Information System application developed for patientinformation monitoring, better patient treatment and more efficient medical recordpurposes. The application in question uses the benefits of the client-server architectureand the benefits of the world-wide-web. For the hospital information system inquestion, a medical database design has been made to ensure the effective usage ofdata transferred, during the process.At the research phase of this work recent hospital information systems have beeninvestigated. The architectures, development platforms, design and implementationstyles etc. have been studied in detail. Deriving the pro?s and con?s of the recentsystems led us to the architecture and development platform decision of our system.The medical database design has been made after the whole research and has beenbrought into life.The hospital information system focuses on the patient-physician-nurse triangle andpatient treatment process. The system has been designed to give the physicians andnurses to take effective care on their patients. This has been ensured even if they areoutside the hospital. The treatment and decision support process takes securely place.Also a patient check-in and checkout module has been implemented to reduce theworkload and waiting time in the hospital.The hospital information in question is attached in the SMYRNA_HIS folder beneaththis document.
