Abstract (EN)
This thesis aspires to look at the how the attempted Coup of that place on July, 2016 followed by other political crises influenced the Turkish Economy and media. This study will take in hand how the attempted coup of 2016 made the economy and media very responsive to events. This study had been formulated around multiple sources on herd behaviour within financial markets, comparing it with the financial events that has occured in the Turkish market since the attempted coup and how these understandings can help us define one of the core challenges Turkey faces in overcoming their current economic stagnation. In order to clearly reflect the ideas presented in this research, the core subject has been divided into two seperate sections, the first one focusing on how media is related nowadays in the field of economy and how it is affecting the Turkish economy, with an emphasis on how herd behavior patterns arise from events such a coup, then moving into the area of how samedia outlets directly affect the investor behavior and decision making process. Additionally with this study, a gap within literature is planned to be filled as there is no direct study that examines the impact of attempted coup on the economy and media in Turkey. For the scope of this study, Turkey has been a unique case, as the usage of media during and after the military coup has been both an asset and disadvantage.
