Abstract (EN)
The research was conducted in order to determine the relationship between depression and sleep problems and quality of life during menopause. The cross-sectional study was conducted at Balıkesir University Health Practice and Research Hospital between 01.11.2022 - 01.02.2023. The sample size consisted of 450 women who applied to Balıkesir University Health Practice and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics outpatient clinic for menopause treatment. The sample size of the study was determined as 200 women with 95% confidence interval and 5% error by using the sample calculation formula in cases with known population. Descriptive statistical methods, independent t test, one-way analysis of variance and Bonferroni were used in the analyses. Pearson correlation and regression analysis were applied for further analysis. The data were collected using the Beck Depression Scale (BDS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Menopause Specific Quality of Life Scale (MSQOLS). The mean score of "Beck Depression Scale-BDS" was 17.57±11.54, the mean score of "Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index-PTSQI" was 9.73±2.96, the mean score of "Menopause Specific Quality of Life Scale-MLSQ" sub-scores of vasomotor domain was 4.21±1.68, psychosocial domain was 3.47±1.50, physical domain was 3.63±1.29 and sexual domain was 3.27±1.93. Providing a holistic approach to menopausal women and counseling them on methods of coping with menopausal symptoms will positively affect women's quality of life during menopause.
