Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study was to investigate effects of different phases of mensturation on physiological parameters, pain threshold and tolerance of volleyball players Thirteen volleyball players from Celal Bayar University were used as participants of the study. Anthropometric measurements, maximal Oxygen consumtion (Max VO2), anaerobic capacity, lactate threshold, pain tolerance and pain threshold were taken during 2nd and 14th days of mensturation. Statistical analysis of this study indicated that body weight, fat free mass, body mass index, body fat percentage and skinfold measurements that were taken during 2nd day of mensturation was not statistically different than that of measurements were done at 14th day of mensturation. Moreover, there were no statistical differences between the anaerobic capcity which were measured by 45m dash and vertical jump test at the 2nd and at14th days of mensturation. Also, there were no statistical differences between maxVo2, pain threshod, pain tolerance and heart rate datas which were measured during luteal and ovulation phases of mensturation. On the other hand, minimum pain score and pain tolerance which were measured by Visual Analog Scales (VAS) were statistically different during two different phases of mensturation. Both minimum pain score and pain tolerance were statistically higher in luteal phase than that of ovulation phase. Moreover, there were statistically higher correlations between VAS and RPE scores during two different phases of mensturation.Key Words: Ovulation phase, Luteal Phase, Pain threshold, Pain tolerance, Exercise
