Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research; determine whether occupational life quality and occupational safety play a mediating role in the effect of compassion fatigue perception levels of healthcare professionals on patient safety. Compassion fatigue, patient safety, professional life quality and occupational safety levels of health professionals within the scope of the research; The sub-objective was determined as the sub-objective to reveal whether it differs according to demographic characteristics such as gender, marital status, age, education level, duty, unit of work, income, professional experience, tenure in the current unit. In this context, face-to-face interviews were conducted with healthcare professionals working in public hospitals operating in the TRB1 region (Elazığ, Malatya, Bingol and Tunceli), and the data obtained from a total of 372 healthcare professionals were evaluated. Convenience sampling technique, which is one of the non-random sampling methods, was used in the conduct of the research. The levels of compassion fatigue of health professionals were determined by the "Compassion Fatigue Scale", the patient safety levels by the "Patient Safety Scale", the occupational life quality levels by the "Occupational Quality of Life Scale", and the occupational safety levels by the "Occupational Safety Scale". evaluated. As a result of the analysis; It has been determined that the compassion fatigue levels of health professionals are at a strong level with an average of 3.97 and patient safety levels with an average of 3.52. In addition, it was determined that occupational life quality levels were at a mediocre level with an average of 3.09 and occupational safety levels with an average of 3.29. In addition, as a result of the research, it was found that compassion fatigue had a statistically significant effect on patient safety (p<0.05). According to the mediation model, it was determined that occupational life quality and job security played a mediating role in the effect of compassion fatigue on patient safety.
