Evaluation of teachers' views on increasing productivity in vocational high schools

Abstract (EN)

The undeniable power of education in the development of societies and the scope of vocational education in socioeconomic development are very important. In the vocational education system, social perception towards vocational and technical education, the intensity of academic programs, opportunities and opportunities for cooperation, technological equipment, etc. It is stated in the training evaluation reports that there are problems and improvements that need to be made. In this study, it was tried to determine teachers' opinions about increasing productivity in vocational high schools. In the study conducted within the scope of qualitative research, the phenomenology design was applied the sample of the study consists of the state-affiliated Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School teachers (15 people) in Kepez district of Antalya province for the 2020-2021 academic year. The data obtained in the research conducted by applying the semi-structured interview form were analyzed in the form of content analysis by determining the codes and themes in accordance with descriptive analysis techniques. Looking at the findings obtained; as a result of this study carried out with teachers working in vocational high schools; the success of the vocational education system, productivity in vocational field-branch programs, development of education-training programs, lesson efficiency, teaching materials, physical usage areas and equipment, internship trainings, industrialist-sector collaborations, projects and technical trips, the attitude of the school management, teachers and various ideas and suggestions were obtained under headings such as student motivation and school-family cooperation. As a result of the placement system in high schools, low-scoring students unwittingly prefer vocational high schools, lack of examinations, failure to ensure the participation of students who are suitable for the profession, qualified and targeted in vocational education, lack of an effective vocational and academic guidance system in secondary schools, it is very important to learn by doing and live, especially for vocational education. In another dimension, opinions have been obtained that the eflection of socioeconomic and social problems manifests itself in the form of unwanted student behavior in vocational high schools and the weakness of school-family cooperation. It has been concluded that updating the fields and branches in accordance with the conditions of the region and the province, ensuring the production cycle by establishing a revolving fund system, eliminating the deficiencies of physical structures, equipment and infrastructure, making teacher trainings, internship training more functional, increasing industrialist and sector collaborations. When these results are examined; It is seen that the components of the secondary education vocational education system should be renewed and developed, and updates should be made in the required fields. Qualified and qualified vocational education and training of qualified students, which means creating a qualified workforce, and this means increasing socioeconomic and social development. In qualified vocational education; It has been concluded that fully equipped and technology-integrated workshops can be carried out with willing and goal-oriented students, highly motivated teachers who continuously improve themselves, supportive school administrations and school-family collaborations.
