Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effect of collegiality on nurses' attitudes towards medical errors. Material and Method: This study employed a descriptive and cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 225 nurses working at a public hospital in the black sea region who agreed to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Individual and Professional Characteristics Questionnaire, Colleague Solidarity of Nurses' Scale, and the Attitude Scale Towards Medical Errors, using face-to-face interviews between October 4 and December 31, 2024. Data were analyzed using SPSS V23 and R programs, and the significance level was set at p<0.05. Results: The mean age of the nurses participating in the study was 39.73±8.65 and 84.9% were female. It was determined that the total mean score of the nurses on the Colleague Solidarity Scale Among Nurses was 97.26±10.56 and the highest score was obtained from the emotional solidarity (39.37±4.34) sub-dimension, and the mean score of the Attitude Scale Towards Medical Errors was 3.69±0.36 and the highest score was obtained from the causes of medical errors (3.85±0.51) sub-dimension. In this study, it was determined that the collegiality of the nurses was at a good level and their attitudes towards medical errors were positive. A statistically significant, positive and weak relationship was found between the collegiality of the nurses and their attitudes towards medical errors (p<0.001). The independent variables affecting the total score of the attitude scale on medical errors were examined with Robust regression analysis, It was determined that collegiality predicted nurses' attitudes towards medical errors by 6.81% (p<0.001). Conclusions: This study concluded that increasing nurses' collegiality improves their attitudes toward medical errors. Therefore, developing and implementing strategies to improve nurses' attitudes toward medical errors may be beneficial for fostering collegiality.
