Abstract (EN)

In this study, usability of calcitic-brucites containing metal/ceramic additives in production of basic refractory in Afyon region was investigated. First, because of the tendency of calcitic-brucite (CaCO3.Mg(OH)2) to be hydrated sintering was applied to raw material. After the trials the appropriate sintering behaviour was determined. From the raw materials sintered at 1550 ºC/6h, mixtures were prepared according to the formulas determined. In this study, three different mixtures like pure KB1, ceramic mixed KB2 and metal mixed KB3 have been used. The acquired mixtures were pressed and the cylinder, rectangle and rod samples were prepared. Besides, for making comparison a resin-bonded dolomitic brick [standard sample (STD)] which is sold in the markets and belongs to Kümaş A.Ş. has been provided. Bulk density, cold crush strength, lifetime test and corrosion tests were performed to STD, KB1, KB2 and KB3 samples. According to the results were obtained, the metal mixed KB3 sample is the best physical and mechanical one among the other samples in which calcitic-brucite were used. In comparison the calcitic-brucited used samples with STD sample it was seen that KB3 sample has better cold crush strength, as well as corrosion endurance.
