Abstract (EN)

Today it is really easy to be exposed to many stimuli via films and series consciously or unconsciously. These may be for the sake of marketing or deeper purposes. It is normal for cinema to include other branches of art but the use of another art branch or artist as a commodity within a branch of art is a subject that needs to be examined. With the concept of commodification, concepts such as Modernism, Postmodernism, capitalism, pop-culture and consumer culture come to the fore and these concepts are effective in other disciplines besides art. These effects are easily noticed in the advertising industry, financial markets and the efforts of culture-making. Today, there is a world order where commodification success, is parallel with supply and demand, rather than content determining the value. Consumed objects and cultural artifacts have been commodified. Art was not isolated from the new world order, but also commodified and transformed into one of the wheels. At the end of a process that started with Expressionism, issues such as aesthetics and artistic principles were put on the backburner and a new understanding of art was created under the leadership of art market, galleries and marketing. Subjects such as marketing effectiveness of the artist and the art, the material value on the market and the art gallery that the work is exhibited on has become priority rather than what the work of art is. Right along with the inner commodification process of the art, using the art like a symbol on movies, tv series and commercials by commodifying the already commodified art creates a state that can be defined as "meta of the meta". Art and drawing techniques of Abstract Expressionist Jackson Pollock were also commodified. Pollock, that was commodified for the purposes such as creating a common American culture, going down in history and taking a place on an art discipline; still being re-commodified with references.
