Abstract (EN)
and methanol-gasoline blends as engine fuel, and the effects of these fuels on engine performance and exhaust emissions. The matter of phase separation, which occurs during the methanol-gasoline mixture formation, has been solved by a newly developed carburettor. The results show that, when the percentage of methanol increases in the blend, the power of engine raises about 10 percent. Increasing the ınethanol percentage in the blend causes slightly more fuel consumption than the use of pure gasoline; yet when comparing these two kinds of fuel in terms of specific energy consumption, the result yields positive effects in favor of the This investigation examined the use of methanol methanol-gasoline blends. As the percentage of methanol increased in t:'.he blends, the thermal efficiency increases. In addition, increasing the methanol percentage in the blends caused less HC and CO exhaus t emi ss ions al though it was o bserved tha t when the pure methanol was used, HC exhaust emission increased. The results of the experiment reveal that different methanol-gasoline blends can be used on the gasoline engine with minimumum modifications required.
