The Fact of dream and reality in Metin Erksan's cinema

ABSTRACTThe main aim of this thesis is to analyse the fact of dream and realitywith the theme of `falling in love with the image? in Metin Erksan?s filmSevmek Zamanı. In the thesis, the relations between picture-reality,photograph-reality and cinema-reality are connected with the theme of `fallingin love with the image? in the film Sevmek Zamanı within this context.Besides, in this thesis, the myth of cave of Platon from the Ancient Greeceand his conceptual ideas of love and the fact of falling in love with the imageinstead of reality in Turkish Folk Art are compared with the theme of `falling inlove with the image? in the film.The theme of `falling in love with the image? is theoretically analysed withFrench psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan?s ?mirror stage? theory and hisinterpretations on `subject?, `wish? and `exalted object?.As a result, it?s determined that, the theme of `falling in love with theimage` is harmonized with Platon?s myth of cave, the falling in love with theimage theme in Turkish Folk Arts, reality connection of photography andcinema and Lacan?s `mirror stage?.
