Abstract (EN)

Importance of earthquake consciousness and seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings isalways forgotten and come up after huge earthquakes. ?Seismic Rehabilitation of ExistingBuildings? is added to earthquake code due to the lack of research in existing structure of newbuilding constructions codes. In this manner, prediction of damage and existing building?sbehavior, required rehabilitations and solution method for objective approach is veryimportant.In this study, a primary school building, which is in first earthquake zone and widely used byMinistry of Public Works, has been evaluated with using pushover analysis method. Also theeffect of three different retrofitting performances has been examined.Structural analysis program SAP 2000 v9.1.5 is used for pushover analysis method. Force -displacement relationship for structural elements is calculated using XTRACT 3.05, columnsand shear walls interaction surface data is calculated using PCACOL programs.In first chapter of this study; a general explanation of the performance based design is given,second chapter; performance levels are explained based on FEMA-356 code, in thirdchapter; FEMA-356 method ?displacement control method? based on static pushoveranalysis is given, in fourth chapter; acceptance criteria for structural elements and structure isgiven, fifth and six chapter; step by step pushover analysis methods are explained to anexisting school building and retrofit applications. SAP 2000, XTRACT 3.05 and PCACOLprogram interfaces are described basically.
