Usability of Midyat stone waste in low plasticity clay soil stabilization

Abstract (EN)
In this study, Midyat stone waste used in the stabilization of a low plasticity clay soil was mixed with natural soil without lime and 6% lime. Midyat stone waste was added to the natural and limy soil at the rates of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Strength and durability properties of the prepared specimens are examined. According to the results of unconfined compressive strength tests, the maximum strength value was obtained from the SLM/10 specimen after 28 days of curing. The SLM/10 specimen showed 49% more strength than the SL specimen. According to the results of freezing-thawing and wetting-drying tests, SLM mixtures showed a more stable behaviour compared to SM mixtures. In the light of the data obtained from the tests, it was determined that the use of Midyat stone waste as an additive alone does not give effective results on strength and durability, and its use with lime has a positive effect.
