Investigation of transients in microgrid

Studies on renewable energy sources are increasing acceleration in recent years. Because of recent energy sources getting in depletion trend, increment in raw material prices, reverse effects on human and environmental health, some difficulties in their use, increases the studies on new and renewable energy sources. In this thesis, a grid connected micro grid is simulated and transient analysis is performed under MATLAB/Simulink platform. Designed micro grid is consist of wind energy system and photovoltaic system, which are renewable energy sources. Simulation system is investigated for fault conditions that may possible to occur on an actual system, suggestions are offered for planning and system engineers by discussing obtained results interpreted through system graphics. Selection of protection devices is one of the most important proposed result among all. Developing a load-shedding algorithm is necessary for stability of system in case of main grid is getting out of order.
