Abstract (EN)
Space, which is one of the important elements of architecture, moves a building beyond being a three-dimensional mass and makes the building gain meaning. Unlike other building actions, designing the spaces inside the building and determining the actions to be carried out there reveals the importance of architecture. Industrial structures, which include the spaces owned by the machines, lose their functions by not adapting to new production systems in developing and changing living conditions. The reuse of these structures, which were abandoned in time, with new functions due to their qualified structural features and their important positions in city centers, created an alternative building production technique. Industrial buildings with strong structural systems and large volumes allow various uses in the selection of new functions. In the study, where industrial structures renewed with additional components and elements to be reused with different functions are examined, two industrial structures functioned as "university education structure" are discussed in detail. Industrial structures have been re-fictionalized to include contemporary education spaces. The buildings, where production is made with the help of machines, have been renovated by adding the components and elements that make up the space to the building mass and the existing volume in line with the university education function. In the thesis study, contemporary usage ideas of new spaces designed with the help of appendices have been evaluated and suggestions have been made for additional designs.
