Abstract (EN)
Introduction and AimMAK, which can be found along with several cardiac pathologies, is a chronic degenerative calcification of mitral annulus. The aim for this study is, to asses echocardiographic right and left ventricular systolic and diastolic functions as together in patients determined MAK and to compare these parameters with parameters obtained in normal individuals.Material and MethodsIn this study, 44 patients (25 females, 19 males) with MAK detected during echocardiography and 46 patients (25 females, 21 males) not detected MAK, totally 90 patients, were included. In all patients; age, gender, clinical history and other clinical features were determined. Left and right ventricular two- dimensional, M- mode, PW Doppler and tissue doppler echocardiographic parameters were measured.FindingsBoth the group examined, were found to be similiar, in terms of clinical and demographic characteristics (HT, DM, CAD, smoking and physical examination findings). In MAK group, impairment in left ventricular systolic- diastolic function parameters and impairment in right ventricular diastolic function parameters were determined. There was no stastifically difference between two gruops about right ventricular systolic function parameters (p>0,05). Left atrial and ascending aorta diameters (p<0,001 and p=0,008) were found to be larger in MAK group. In addition, we determined that MAK is assosiated with left ventricular hypertrophy.ConclusionAs a result of this study, we determined that, MAK is associated with left ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunctions and right ventricular diastolic dysfunction. But, about this subject, further investigations should be performed.
