Factors causing mobbing and methods to tackle mobbing: Public hospi̇tals of Adana provinces

The purpose of this study is to state whether the factors causing mobbing (psychological violence) show change depending on demographical variables and put forward recommendations about methods to tackle mobbing. In the scope of the study, information concerning the phenomenon of mobbing is provided, the reasons which pave the way for mobbing has been stated, the perceptions of mobbing among doctors' and midwifes/nurses working at state hospitals of Adana province have been determined, the relationship between mobbing and organizational structure have been investigated. The target population of the study is 3353 staff working at state hospitals who the belong to General Secretary of Adana Province State Hospitals Union as doctors and midwifes/nurses (excluding academicians) and hospital secretaries. 425 participants were included to the study by taking the perception scale and survey. In the analysis part, 405 respondents were considered. Research data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 package program, with the help of which frequencies, percentages, averages, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and "t" test. The overall findings of the study suggest that the staff working at state hospitals which belong to General Secretary of Adana Province State Hospitals Union have rarely been exposed to the behaviors indicated in the survey. Perceptions of mobbing and factors contributing to mobbing of the participants have been determined to vary depending on demographical features. Furthermore, it has been observed that there is a lack of communication between managment and staff.
