Abstract (EN)
Heavy metals are considered one of the most widespread environmental pollutants They are potentially hazardous to the environment because they can accumulate in the soil, water, and dust, posing a serious threat to plants and animals. This study assessed the level of contamination of heavy metals in the soil of Mogadishu. 48 soil samples is addressed to undergo experimental investigation. V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Sr, Cd, Sn, Ba, Ti and Pb concentrations are obtained with ICP-MS. Sr and Zn had the highest mean concentrations of 853 mg/kg and 187.43 mg/kg respectively. While Cd and Ti had the lowest mean concentrations of 0.150 mg/kg and 0.005 mg/kg respectively. Geoaccumulatıon index results have shown that V, Cr, Mn, Co, Cu, As, Cd, Sn, Ti, and Pb all had geo-index less than zero. Zn was moderately contaminated, and Sr was extremely contaminated as the result showed. In the study, TCR results of children and adults were 1,47x10-7 and 5,58x10-8 respectively. HQ and HI obtained from soil samples are lower than the standard values equal to 1, therefore they don't pose a direct non-carcinogenic risk for adults and children. As, Cr, and Ni were the highest values obtained. CR and TCR values were obtained lower than the standard values equal to 10-4-10-6. This indicates that it does not pose a direct carcinogenic risk for adults and children.
