The effect of Morpa Campus Educational Software on the academic achievement of secondary school 7th grade students on algebra and equations and student opinions

In this study, the effect of using Morpa Kampüs Education Software in mathematics classes on student academic achievement and the students' review on this education software were examined. The study was conducted during the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used in the study. The Posttest Only (Paired) Control Group Design, a quasi-experimental design, was used in the quantitative portion of the study. The study group of the study was conducted with four classes studying in the 7th grade and a total of 63 students. The test group consists of 31 students, while the control group consists of 32. Classes in the test group of the study were carried out with the assistance of Morpa Kampüs Education Software, whereas classes in the control group was carried out with the assistance of a teacher centered instruction and a course book. A posttest was performed on both the test and control groups at the end of the six-week course. The collected data were analyzed using the statistical program SPSS 22.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). In the data analysis, the Mann-Whitney U test, a non-parametric alternative to the unpaired t test, was used. In the analysis of the data, a significant difference in favor of the test group was revealed. A semi-structured interview form was utilized to collect the reviews of the test group students about the Morpa Kampüs Education Software used during the qualitative phase of the research. The collected data were evaluated with a content analysis. According to the results, it was found that the students had positive reviews on Morpa Kampüs Education Software.
