Abstract (EN)

Low frequency noise is a great concern especially for analog and RF electronic circuits. It affects circuits that operate at high frequencies due to the frequency translation and up-conversion of noise via mixers and oscillators. This thesis is a comprehensive literature survey on low frequency noise, encompassing the review of literature on physical modeling of basic low frequency noise generating mechanisms in semiconductors, compact modeling of noise in MOSFETs, and circuit design techniques that were proposed to reduce the adverse effects of low frequency noise. The noise models proposed in the literature are reviewed from the perspective of generality and validity especially for time-varying bias conditions.
