The effect of jop security on the perception of motivation tools: A study in hotel enterprises

Hotel enterprises have an important place in the country economies because of tourism revenues. These organizations? contribution to the national economy is increased in proportion to their success. In the hospitality sector, the success of organizations depends on employees who like and fulfill their jobs willingly. Beacuse, the most important capital for these organizations is their workforce. Therefore, this characteristics make high emloyee notivation essential. In this respect, researchers help managers in their decisions and identification of appropriate tools of motivation which motivate employees.In this study, the relationship between job security perception level of employees in the hotel enterprises in Turkey and job security and other motivation tools were investigated. In this context;- The variables affecting job security perception,- The relationship between job security and motivation tools,- Whether the level of job security perception changes the other motivationtools? perception level or not and- The place of job security in motivation tools were researched.As research sample of the study, Four and Five Star accommodation facilities (Hotel, Holiday Village, Thermal Hotel) in provinces where there is a concentration in tourism activities were selected by employing randomized selection method. The survey was conducted in August 2009 and within the scope of this research 414 employees in 24 hotels participated in the study. A questionnaire was used to collect the required data for the study. The aim of the study is to determine the level of job security perceptions of hotel employees in Turkey and measure its impact on the perception levels of other motivation tools.The data obtained through questionnaires was analysed by using Stata 10.0 and SPSS 16.0 package programs and regression analysis techniques (correlation analysis, Chi Square, T-test, Mann Whitney U, ANOVA (F) and Kruskal Wallis) were used.In this research, it is observed that;- Hotel employees in Turkey perceive the job security as a motivation tool tomeet their needs,- There is a meaningful relationship between job security and othermotivation tools,- Job security perception may change the level of other motivation tools?perception,- The place of job security among priorities can indicate differences accordingto sub-groups.Keywords:Motivation, Motivation Tools, Job Security, Employee,Hotel Organizations
