Abstract (EN)

Historical urban environments, are becoming structurally and morphologically insufficient for changing patterns of use, in the urban integrity. Such evolutions cause problems in the pattern at urban, socio economic ? cultural and architectural scales. There are various intervention methods for overcoming the problems of historical urban environments. In the rehabilitation of historical urban environments requiring intervention, the evaluation of data as a whole; and handling them with a ?user-centered? perspective is important to draw viable conclusions. In examples of user-centered rehabilitation of historical patterns, it is observed that, with similar approaches, physical and social data were evaluated together, and intervention methods finding solutions for users? problems were preferred. Basmahane historical urban environment continues its formation under the effect of developments throughout the history of zmir. It is observed that the historical pattern is being affected by formations of contemporary city; its social structure is changing hands; and its physical structure is insufficient. The study is detailed in domicile and commercial buildings in the region limited from north by 1296 Street ? Gaziler Avenue, from west by 1299 ? 1298 Streets, from south by Anafartalar Avenue ? 1286 Street, from east by 1271 ? 1280 Streets. Evaluating the problems of the historical pattern, rehabilitation with ?user-centered? approaches, and maintaining its active existence in the city as an integrity that is livable and preserving its historical features, are proposed.
