Abstract (EN)

"Muğla Beyazı" marble, which is commercially operated with its own white color and full crystalline texture of metamorphic origin in Muğla region; is the subject of this work on the effect of roughness on the surface energies of natural stones with the ease given by purity, crystal homogeneity and controllable surface machinability that are important for surface treatment operations. Five different surfaces were fabricated with abrasives of 120-220-320-400-600 on Toyamer pilot scale calibrated and four headed sliver line located in our university laboratory. Mineralogical and petrographic analyzes of Muğla Beyazı marble with XRD, XRF, thin section were completed. Two different scales (micro and nano) three dimensional surface scans were performed with ZYGO New View 7100 optical profilometer and Park System AFM9 to define the roughness of the produced surfaces. Obtained surface scans were statistically evaluated with Mountains Map software and 3D roughness parameters were determined. The surface area ratio (Sdr), which is increased by roughness, was found between 0.423 - 1.127 micron Nano Sa values and 0.0806 - 0.173 micron, while the surface area ratio (Sdr) was found between 0.423 - 1.127 micron Nano Sa values, was found between 0.0806 - 0.173 micron, 33.7 % - 40.1 % Nano 5.19 - 18.5 %. Among these calculations young, Wenzel, Cassie, Cassie - Baxter contact angle approaches have been tested. At this stage, it was observed that solid surface energy could not be determined and inconsistency could be determined only by changing the Cassie - Baxter approach. Moreover, the presence of air packages under the water droplet that is not foreseen by previous studies has been calculated and it has been determined that at least 26 % and at most 35 % of these surfaces can be air packs.
