Magic and magic applications in Muş

Magic and magical practices, whose existence is equivalent to the history of humanity, are practices that people cannot afford or have done as a last resort. Magic and magical practices have survived to the present day, dating back to primitive people and ancient religions. Situations such as religious changes, wars, migrations, etc. experienced in the Anatolian geography have brought magical practices, tools and equipment and some rituals to the present day. Magical practices intertwined with religious beliefs continue their vitality. Today, despite the developing technology and scientific studies, the belief in magic maintains its existence. Although it is common among the people, it has kept up with technological developments, and recently rituals such as psychic, fortune-telling, etc. are performed on social media platforms or television programs. Due to reasons such as people's curiosity towards the unknown, the secrets in magic, and the desire to overcome nature, magic pushes every individual of the society from birth to death to magical practices. The field studies we have done in Muş and the data we have obtained from these studies show that magic is still a part of the daily life of Muş with different names and practices and continues its existence. In general, in this study, what magic is, its historical background, the place of magic in monotheistic religions and the magical practices that maintain their existence in today's Muş province will be discussed
