Abstract (EN)

The microcredit system was initiated by Professor Muhammad Yunus in the 1970s in Bangladesh. The purpose is the elimination of poverty in the world. Microcredit is a small starting capital without showing a guarantee for one who intends to startup business or developing the existing business, but has the lack of requirements necessary to raise a credit from classic banking system. The objective of this thesis is the role of microcredit in serving the purpose and effectiveness about the problems encountered in the application and proposal of solutions for people who want to start their own business but for various reasons unable to find sufficient financial support.In this study, microcredit system and its functioning is firstly introduced. With the historical development of the system in Turkey and in the world, microfinance institutions and practice is also mentioned. Then the role of microcredit in support of entrepreneurs is addressed.
