A study based on the levels of sightreading in piano of music teacher candidates

This study is carried out to determine the levels of sightreading in pianoeducation. For this purpose, sightreading book of ?ABRSM Grade 4? is used.The population of the investigation is composed of the students of GaziUniversity, Gazi Education Faculty, Department of Fine Arts Teaching, and thesample of the investigation consisted of 16 undergraduate students of GaziUniversity, Gazi Education Faculty, Department of Fine Arts Teaching.In the study, the qualitative and quantitative data are obtained and evaluated byliterature search and descriptive, questionare, expert opinion respectively. The dataobtained by questionare prepared for the sample individuals are tabulated bycalculating the percentages.As a result, the levels of sightreading skills of the students, and both inundergraduate piano program and in piano lectures the levels of sightreadingapplications are determined.
