Investigation of the effect of myrtus communis (murt tree extract) on healing of intestinal incision wounds in rats

Abstract (EN)
In this experimental study we have done, a total of 50 adult Wistar Albino male rats weighing between 250-300 g were used. In the care of the rats used in the experiment, they were fed with ad libitum rat food until 2 hours before the study and they were allowed to drink free water. The rats used in the study were maintained in the same laboratory in standart cages of 12 hours light/12 hours dark. Mrytus Communis (Murt tree extract) was used in the study. Murt tree extract was provided by ArsArthro Biotechnology A.Ş Ankara company. No drug was administered to the rats used in the study in the control group. It was sacrificed on the 3rd day (n=5) and 7th day (n=5) of the study. No drugs were administered to the rats used in the study in the sham group. Postoperatively, she was sacrificed on postoperative 3rd day (n=5) and 7th day (n=5). In Myrtus Communis 1 (n=10) Group, 0.15 ml/kg/day of Myrtus Communis for the 3rd (n=5) and 7th (n=5) days was applied to the animals that were prepared with physiological saline to be administered by gavage and which had undergone the operation. In the Myrtus Communis 2 (n=10) Group, 0.25 ml/kg/day Myrtus Communis was applied to the animals that were prepared with physiological saline for the 3rd (n=5) and 7th (n=5) days to be administered via gavage and which had undergone the operation. In the Myrtus Communis 3 (n=10) Group, 0.50 ml/kg/day Myrtus Communis was applied to the animals that were prepared with physiological saline to be administered by gavage for the 3rd (n=5) and 7th (n=5) days. Samples were taken from the incision line created for histopathological examination from the 3rd (n=5) and 7th (n=5) sacrified animals in all groups. For biochemical measurement, blood samples were taken by cardiac injection, centrifuged at 5000 rpm, and their serum was removed and stored at -20°C. Blood samples were taken by cardiac injection for haematological measurement, and then the results were analyzed. IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, TAS, TOS and EGF levels in the serum obtained from the samples were measured by ELISA method. Neovascularization, Fibroblastic activity, inflammatory cell and collagen measurements were performed. Biochemically Albumin, ALP, ALT, AST, E GFR, Globulin, Creatinine, Total Protein, Urea and BUN levels were measured. Hematologically, WBC, LYM, GRA, MID, LYM (%), GRA (%), MID (%), Hb, MCH, MCHC, RBC, MCV, RDW, HCT and PLT values were measured. In this study, Control 3rd day, Control 7th day, Sham Group 3rd day, Sham Group 7th day, Group 1-3, respectively. day, Group 1-7. day, Group 2-3. day, Group 2-7. day, Group 3-3. day and Group 3-7. The histopathological examination results of tissue sections taken from the descending colon incision line in the day groups were given as Inflammatory Cell, Fibroblastic Activity, Neovascularization and Collagen levels, respectively. Inflammatory Cell measurement levels, respectively; 1.46±0.47, 1.45±0.42, 0.37d±0.90, 0.00±0.00, 1.80±0.39, 1.92±0.38, 2,86±0.48, 3.00±0.00, 3.68±0.57 and 3.88±0.49. When the findings obtained in all groups were compared statistically, there was a significant difference between the groups (p<0.05). Fibroblastic activity results measurement levels were respectively 1.26±0.05, 1.47±0.41, 0.37±0.90, 0.00±0.00, 1.50±0.00, 1.83±0.41, 3.46±0.73, 2.73±0.81, 3.92±0.52 and 3.72±0.53. When the findings obtained in all groups were compared statistically, there was a significant difference between the groups (P<0.05). Collagen results measurement levels, respectively; 1.26±0.05, 1.22±0.04, 0.20±0.49, 0.00±0.00, 1.52±0.27, 1.67±0.16, 3,08b±0.93, 3.30±0.81, 3.43±0.38 and 4.08±0.44. When the findings obtained in all groups were compared statistically, there was a significant difference between the groups (P<0.05). Collagen results measurement levels, respectively; 1.26±0.05, 1.22±0.04, 0.20±0.49, 0.00±0.00, 1.52±0.27, 1.67±0.16, 3,08±0.93, 3.30±0.81, 3.43±0.38 and 4.08±0.44. When the findings obtained in all groups were compared statistically, there was a significant difference between the groups (P<0.05).
