In this study, information about the period in which İbnu'l-Haşşâb (d.567/1171) lived, his life, and his scientific and literary personality are included. His commentary titled el-Mürtecel fî Şerhi'l-Cümel, which he wrote on the work titled el-Cümel by 'Abdulkâhir el-Cürcânî (d.471/1078), was discussed and examined. İbnu'l-Hashşâb is one of the important linguists of his period. Scholars have praised him. The work called el-Mürtecel fî Şerhi'l-Cümel, written by İbnu'l-Haşşâb, is more important as it is a commentary on the work called el-Cümel by 'Abdulkâhir el-Cürcânî, who is considered the founder of the science of rhetoric. Has also increased. In this study, main sources were first used using scientific methods. New studies have not been ignored either. Arabic texts are given with their translations. In addition, the works of İbnu'l-Haşşâb were introduced and what they were written about was briefly mentioned. Introducing Ibnu'l-Hashshāb and his work, his great contributions to the world of science, and the necessity of having a faculty in any branch of science, based on the concept of reaction, are among the conclusions of the study. This study consists of two parts, apart from the introduction. In the introduction, the purpose, importance, method and sources of the research, as well as the political, social, scientific and cultural situation and tradition of commentary in the period in which Ibnu'l-Hashshāb lived, were discussed. In the first part; İbnu'l-Haşşâb's life, his scientific and literary personality, his teachers, his students, his works, 'Abdulkâhir el-Cürcânî, his works and his work called el-Cümel were discussed. In the second part, the general features of İbnu'l-Haşşâb's work named el-Mürtecel fî Şerhi'l-Cümel are discussed and examined.
