Abstract (EN)
Lithium ion batteries; they are efficient batteries with high energy and power density, lightweight design and long life cycle. Thanks to these advantages, it is used for power applications such as electrochemical storage, electronic devices, military applications, storage of energy obtained from renewable energy sources, power tools, hybrid electric vehicles. NCA developed as an alternative to cathode materials for lithium ion batteries have superior properties such as high operating voltage, high specific capacity, cyclic and structural stability. Battery performance is highly dependent on its components and it is important to obtain a battery produced with low cost, environmentally friendly processes. PVDF is a water- insoluble binder which using organic solvents such as N-Methyl-2 pyrrolidone (NMP) for provide its solubility. However these solvents are volatile, flammable and costly products and caused environmental pollution. The last few years, considerable efforts have been made to develop new water-soluble binders for the cathode and anode as an alternative to PVDF. In this thesis study, NCA was produced by sol-gel method. As an alternative to PVDF binder, the effect of water-soluble LA133-SBR and CMC-SBR binders on the electrochemical and structural properties of NCA cathode electrodes was carried out as a comparative study. X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, elemental distribution spectroscopy and point mapping analyzes were used for the characterization of the produced cathode electrodes. Impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge / discharge tests were performed for electrochemical analysis. In the results obtained, NCA-based cathode electrodes containing PVDF were also considered. Comparative study showed that LA133-SBR and CMC-SBR water-based binders can be used successfully in commercial batteries.
