Neither public nor private sphere: New media

Developments in communication technology has directly interfered with daily life to change. The boundaries between public and private space is reformed. Understanding of social life, the place of new media in everyday life began to grow. Developments in new communication technologies, also reflected to public / private discussions and thoughts on what the public and what is private has become more complex. In this context, the transformation taking place in public and private spheres, have made it necessary to rethink these concepts with new media. The use of new media, the public and private spheres of people began to be rebuilt in the perception of concepts. The concepts of public and private spheres in this study, it was discussed how the new media creates a space by considering the "new media" concept. In the first part of the thesis, Jürgen Habermas', Hannah Arendt's and Richard Sennett's ideas for public and private spheres were discussed. In the second part of the thesis, taken together with the concepts of privacy and new media, the process of being rebuilt of the sense of privacy by the new media's integration to our lives was discussed. In the third part of the thesis, by considering the definition of new media, the concept of public and private spheres were discussed again through new media.
