Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, a solar energy assisted humidification-dehumidification desalination system was handled and the thermodynamic and economic analysis of the system was performed. The annual amount of produced water by the system, initial investment cost, annual maintenance cost, annual expenses and revenues were determined in the analyzes that made by considering different parameters such as solar radiation, collector area, sea water temperature and soil temperature and the cost of produced water per liter was calculated. Furthermore, in the thesis, the system was evaluated based on climate data from Turkey's different coastal provinces. At the end of the study it was observed that the configuration where sea water is closed cycle produces water at a lower cost. It was determined that the cost of water per liter decreased with increasing the amount of radiation, the dry bulb temperature of the air and the absolute humidity, while the cost of water per liter increased with increasing soil temperature. It was determined that the produced water in the system during the summer season had the lowest cost for all provinces.
