Abstract (EN)
Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a main crop that provides an essential source of protein for human nutrition. This study was conducted with the aim of determining fungal pathogens which cause root rot on bean plants in Yazıhüyük and Suvermez villages which are the largest producers of bean in Nevşehir province, Turkey. The survey was conducted at the vegetation period of 2018. According to the distribution of fungal pathogens of the surveyed fıelds, the highest isolates obtained from bean cultivation areas were Fusarium with an average rate of 62.5%. Followed by Rhizoctonia with an average rate of 27.5%, while Rhizopus was an average rate of 4.8%. Alternaria was obtained an average rate of 2.4%. Followed by Penicillium at an average rate of 2.1%. The least isolate was Epicoccum with an average rate of 0.7%. The isolates with the highest virulence (Y1A, Y1B and Y8) were found to belong to Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani and Rhizoctonia solani isolates respectively, which were used in pathogenicity test. As the results of pathogenicity tests, on all bean varieties, the disease severity rate of F. oxysporum was determined as varying from 48.3% - 91.7%. The Average rate of disease severity caused by F. oxysporum isolate to all bean varieties was calculated as 72.8%. The isolate of F. solani, rates of disease severity was determined as varying from 33.3% - 95.0%. Average rate of disease severity of F. solani isolate to all bean varieties was calculated as 70.6%. While R. solani AG-4 isolate was calculated as the lowest with an average rate of 49.4% in all tested bean varieties. Key Words: Phaseolus vulgaris, Fusarium spp., root rot, pathogenicity
