An evaluation of nurettin topçu's educational approach in terms of philosophical approaches

Education systems are structures that have a certain philosophical basis and are created according to this basis. Structures created without any philosophical basis will not be able to reveal the desired success. Therefore, the philosophical basis of education, that is, the philosophy of education, is an existential problem of Education. Because the purpose and basic tools of education are created according to the preferred educational philosophy. In particular, philosophy in goal setting is used effectively. According as the preferred educational philosophy, new targets are added to the determined targets. At the end, these targets are taken and the system is designed. In this sense, education philosophy first makes itself felt in the determination of the target. Then, the effect reveals in other elements of education. According to the educational philosophy adopted in our country, targets have been determined and training has been designed in this framework, too. As a matter of fact, technical development has been targeted within the framework of pragmatist educational philosophy and necessary arrangements have been made in order to provide technical development. On the other hand, the elements preventing technical development have been removed from the training. Nurettin Topçu criticizes the pragmatist educational philosophy aimed at technical development and distanced from metaphysics violently. It reveals an understanding of education that regards religious and moral education as important. Developing a philosophical understanding of the Qur'an and Blondel's Action Philosophy and Mevlana's understanding of Sufism, Topçu is an important thinker who has put forward a traditional attitude in spiritual education. In this traditional attitude, Topçu, who is opposed to modern educational approaches and uses a lot of arguments from idealism and realism in education, can be considered as one of the representatives of a Spiritualist educational approach in our country in a holistic sense. In this sense, Nurettin Topçu is the pioneer of the change in spirituality education in the educational paradigm in our country in these years. This work, which consists of an assessment of the educational understanding that is presented within the framework of philosophical movements, will help to understand the current educational attitude and the structural changes made.
