ABSTRACT Master Thesis IN THE PROTECTION OF MV NETWORK FAULTS REMOTE COMMAND AND CONTROL WITH PLC Nazlı ÇITAK Fırat University School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Electric-Electronic Engineering 2005, Page: 91 In Automation systems which used in power systems; central process unit (PLC-PC), analyses signals that come from application system and brings process measurement values to the control units and operator panels. It has been provided to operator to view system working with help of the SCADA program which is constituted with using of process data in Human- Machine Interface (HMI) screens. Thus; in a fault condition, operator in the center is alerted by the defined alarms. Besides, this method makes possible to proving the fault location at a distance by evaluation of datas with remote command methods in central command circuit. In this study, a control and command system which used PLC and SCADA was estabilished instead of protection relays for protection to the phase-earth, phase-phase, two phases-earth and three phases faults in the middle voltage netwoks. This system commands cutter in a fault condition by the performed PLC program which used the PROFIBUS communication technology. In the protection process, system considers relay systems delayed, recurrence close and sudden working features. Key words : PLC, Remote Command, Middle Voltage Network Protections. XII
