Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of acupuncture on the oxidative stres at obese people. Forty female adult divided into two groups; sham acupuncture group(n=20), acupuncture group(n=20).The acupuncture applied 20 minutes/ two times/week and not be stimulated. A diet listing did not given but suggestions about how to eat was made. After the tenth treatment we determined lipid peroxidation (MDA), AOPP levels, superoxide dismutase SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) levels in plasma and compared the levels before and after acupuncture.Only in acupuncture grup GPx levels increased significantly .Other parameters didn?t change. To investigate the effect of acupuncture on oxidative stress in obese subjects further animal and human studies are needed.Key words: Acupuncture, obesity, MDA, SOD, AOPP, GPX
