Abstract (EN)

This study focuses on the offshore wind energy policies of the European Union and the specific member states identified within this union. The first part of this thesis provides general information about energy and renewable energy, followed by a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of wind energy. Offshore wind energy is also addressed in this section. In the second part, the historical background of offshore wind energy in the European Union is examined. Along with an analysis of the EU's energy policies, the development of wind energy and offshore wind energy in Europe is analyzed based on significant milestones. Furthermore, several successful projects conducted in the southern North Sea are highlighted. This section also emphasizes the final situation and future goals of Germany and the Netherlands in offshore wind energy. In the final and third section, the challenges faced by the European Union regarding offshore wind energy and proposed solutions to these issues are summarized.
