Abstract (EN)

In today's world, financial knowledge has become a fundamental necessity in order to keep pace with rapidly evolving technology and innovations and to enhance the level of prosperity. Educational institutions can have a significant impact on preparing students for future financial challenges by providing them with a foundation in this field through instructional programs that support financial literacy. This study investigates whether there is a meaningful difference in the financial literacy of students enrolled in financial management and/or accounting courses at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The survey data obtained from 837 students during the May-June period of the 2021-2022 academic year were evaluated in the study. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 package program. The results indicate that the overall level of financial literacy among students is generally low. However, the financial literacy level of students who have taken Financial Management and/or Accounting courses was found to be higher compared to those who have not taken these courses. The findings suggest that finance and accounting courses contribute to the level of financial literacy. Taking a comprehensive approach to financial topics and thus providing a strong foundation could contribute to the development of knowledgeable and competent individuals in financial matters.
