Evaluation of the user interface of the learning management system in terms of visual design principles: The case of Anadolu University Open Education Faculty eCampus

The demands and expectations of society are changing as a result of new technological developments. With today's technologies and changing lifestyles, many educated people prefer online distance education because they can access it from anywhere and apply it on their own time. With the increasing demand for online courses, educators and developers have quickly turned to producing content in the digital environment and developing learning management systems. As important as the functions of a learning management system are, the interface design has an important role in providing a healthy learning process as it has the function of welcoming and guiding the user. It is thought that the interface design of these environments significantly affects the user experience and the learning process and that visual design principles should be applied not only for aesthetic reasons but also in accordance with the demographic and perceptual characteristics of the users, especially in systems with a heterogeneous and multi-layered user base such as open education. The aim of this study is to determine whether there are significant differences in the visual interface design of Anadolu University Open Education Faculty eCampus system, a learning management system, according to the demographic characteristics of the users and to make inferences about user-centered design strategies in learning environments in line with the findings obtained.
