Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the expectation levels of teachers about school principals' ethical behaviours according to the perceptions of teachers and the views of teachers about the frequency of ethical behaviours exhibited by school principals in terms of various variables. The data was collected by using TES (teacher expectation scale) and EBDS (ethical behaviour demonstration scale) which were developed based on the researches of the relevant literature and prepared by using the questionnaire technique. 541 participants selected from the population that teachers who work in public schools of all levels in the 2018-2019 academic year in Sakarya constitute the sample. In the schools determined by simple random sampling method, the data collection tool consisting of questionnaires and scales was delivered to the participating teachers by the researcher and collected after being filled. As a result of the validity and reliability analyzes based on the collected data, it was observed that the construct validity of TES,consisting of 48 items and 5 factors, and EBDS,consisting of 51 items ad 5 factors, was ensured and the distinctiveness of the items of the scales were high and the data obtained from the questionnaire were highly reliable. The findings of the study showed that the expectation of the teachers regarding the ethical behaviours of the school principals and the frequency of the school principals exhibiting the ethical behaviours were quite high according to the perceptions of the teachers. Differences in the demographic variables of TES and EBDS scores of the participating teachers and the school principals were analyzed by T-test and ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationship between the participants' declared ethical knowledge and the age of the school principals and their TES and EBDS scores. The predictive power of TES to EBDS analyzed by simple linear multiple regression analysis and path analysis was performed. As a result, it was found out that the expectations of the teachers about ethical behaviours and the frequency of ethical behaviours exhibited by school principals were high and one unit raise in expectations for ethical behaviours increased the frequency of ethical behaviours .24 units.
