Review of the preschool children's books illustration due to teachers opinions

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study is to examine preschool child books illustrations with respect to the preschool teachers opinions. The sample is 96 preschool teachers, reached by e-mail and face to face contacts, from 11 cities of Turkey. Research used scanning model, both the quantitative and qualitative methods are used. In the research, the teacher talkback form and book illustration review scale are used for data collection. The scales are developed by the researher with respect to the expert opinions. The teacher talkback form contains open-ended questions whereas book illüstration review scale is a likert type scale that is used to vote the illustrations of five child books. The reliability and validity of the data collection tools are made in the research. The content validity index and exploratory factor analysis are used for validity, and Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient are calculated for reliability. For data analysis, frequency - percentage calculation are made by frequency coding for qualitative method, and some citations are made from preschool teachers answers. That research used screening model to get the preschool teachers ideas about the preschool child books illustrations. The result of the research put forth the differentiation of the teachers ideas with respect to the age, education level and the school that are worked in but not differentiate according to the years they worked as teacher.
