Abstract (EN)
This is a qualitative study which has been done with the aim of evaluating thetransition period of first grade reading and writing of students who attend pre- schooland the ones who don?t attend in the light of view of teachers and students. At theresearch, it has been attempted to evaluate the effect of the situation of students?attending pre- school on transition period of first grade reading and writing accordingto views of teacher and student.The research has been done in 6 primary schools with different socio economiclevels which take place in Adana province borders in 2005- 2006 education andinstruction year.The study of group is consisted of 60 first grade students and 15 teachers inprimary schools at different socio economic levels. The views of 60 students at firstgrade and 15 teachers who teach at first grade are applied.The interview forms which contain questions in the form that they will describehow having attended to pre- school affects the transition period of first grade andwriting have been prepared. Applying to expert view, these forms have been arrenged ashalf structured by the researcher.In analyzing the data, in analyzing the quantitative data which gained from thepersonal information forms, number and percentage calculations have been used. Andfor the qualitative data which were obtained from interviews qualitative descriptiveanalysis has been done.The reached findings have been listed below.1. As the education level of the parents increases, the rate of the students? attending topre- school education institution increases.2. As the monthly income of the students? families who participated to the researchincreases, the number of the students who attend to pre- school education institutionincreases as well.3. Most of the students who receive pre- school education and who don?t receive, canwrite adjacent and slant writing without having difficulty.4. Students who have taken pre-school education come to school more learned than theones who haven?t taken pre-school education.5. Pre-school education institutions prepare the students to school and schoolregulations.Key Words : Education of first grade reading and writing, Pre- school education
