Philosophy for children education in preschool education

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine and examine the impact of Philosophy Education for Children, to be implemented as part of the preschool education process, on the cognitive, social-emotional, and language development of children. The research model is constituted by a qualitative research method, specifically a case study. The study group of the research consists of six children, their parents, and the class teacher, all of whom are attending a preschool in the province of Sakarya during the 2020-2021 academic year. Data for the research were collected through observation forms and interview forms developed by the researcher. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings of the research indicate an increase in children's fundamental attention skills, thinking skills, questioning skills, curiosity, vocabulary, expression of thoughts, communication skills, collaboration, and sharing behaviors as a result of Philosophy For Children Education for children. The study concludes that there is a need to raise awareness among parents about Philosophy For Children Education and to increase the professional competence of teachers in the field of philosophy education for children.
