Abstract (EN)

Little children always search the world around them??????????????Under the light of this reality, the aim of the study is to investigate whether it is more effective for the students at 9th, 10th and 11th grade getting the education of pre-school to face the science process skills helping the learner and the learning in science, making the students active in lesson, giving an opportunity to them to improve themselves and increasing the performance of the learned materials at higher grades , at an early age.In this research, the causal comparison method from the quantitative research methods and historical methods are used. In causal comparison method, in terms of a specific variable, it is aimed to compare the differentiating groups with each other. In historical method, a specific past event?s effect on today is searched. The sample group of the research is constituted by 150 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who gets education in a private course in the first term of the 2009-2010 education year, in the Polatli district. Two tests were applied to the students in November,2009. The first of these tests is the scientific process test developed by OKEY, WISE and BURNS (1985) which tests whether the student?s science process skills improve or not. The second is the science process skills exam in the shape of written examination developed by TAN and TEMIZ to determine the science process skills. At the end of the study the results of the tests were evaluated by SPSS statics program. This evaluation takes place in findings and comments part.At the end of the research it is found out that the 9th, 10th and 11th grade students getting pre-school education in the sample has improved their science process skills more than the students not getting the pre-school education. Besides skills under the lights of these findings when examining the students according to class and sex factor, there is not a considerable difference among them in terms of science process skills. Some suggestions for future scientific research are presented, which intends the effects of pre-school education on science process skills. Keywords: Science Process Skills, Pre-School Education, Science Education, 9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade.
