Abstract (EN)
One of the problems encountered in hazelnut cultivation, which has economic importance for our country and the Black Sea Region, is weeds. With this work; It was aimed to investigate the possibilities of using cover crops for control of weed species that are a problem in the hazelnut fields of Ordu province. The experiment was carried out in 2021-2022, according to the randomized block trial design, in the hazelnut gardens called Creek and Road Garden at the same elevation and 25 years old, in Ordu province, with cover crops (Hordeum vulgare L. (Barley), Lolium perenne L. (Perennial ryegrass), Vicia sativa L. (Common vetch), Trifolium pratense L. (Red clover), Brassica oleracea var. acephala (Kale)) and half-and-half (50%) mixture applications (T. pratense+L. perenne, T. pratense+H. vulgare, V. sativa+H. vulgare, V. sativa+L. perenne, B. oleracea var. acephala+L. perenne, B. oleracea var. acephala+L. perenne, B. oleracea var. acephala+H. vulgare), control (weedy), herbicide (Glyphosate-potassium salt 600ml/da) and mowing (with motor scythe) with 14 aplication 4 replications on hazelnut orchards. In areas where cover crop applications were applied throughout the trial; the densest cover plant coverage area (%) in the Creek Garden in 2021 was determined as 55.83% in the K1 (T. pratense+L. perenne) application, and 63.75% in the K3 (V. sativa+L. perenne) application in 2022. In the Road Garden, the most dense cover crop coverage area (%) was determined as 47.50% in the K3 (V. sativa+L. perenne) application in 2021, and 60% in the Y3 (V. sativa) application in 2022. The lowest weed coverage area (%) in the Creek Garden in 2021 was 5.33%, 7.79% and 23.91% in H (herbicide), B (mowing) and Y2 (L. perenne) respectively, and H (herbicide) and B (mowing) in 2022 were found to be 8.33% and 11.66%, respectively. The lowest weed coverage area (%) in the Road Garden in 2021 was 4.54%, 8.37% and 22.50% in H (herbicide), B (mowing) and Y5 (B. oleracea var. acephala) respectively, and the lowest weed coverage area (%) in 2022 was found to be 5.21%, 7.87% and 20.16% in H (herbicide), B (mowing) and K4 (V. sativa+H. vulgare) respectively. As a result of these studies, cover crops have become effective control of to weeds in hazelnut fields.
