Empathy tendencies of physical education teachers working in secondary education institutions

Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the empathy tendencies of physical education teachers working in secondary education institutions. Material and Method: The universe of the research will be physical education teachers in secondary education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Education in 2021-2022. The sample of the study will be secondary school physical education teachers operating in the city center of Elazig. A total of 226 questionnaires were collected. Results: A statistically significant difference was determined in the gender variable in the empathy levels of the participants. According to the gender variable, it was determined that the empathy levels of male physical education teachers were higher than female physical education teachers. A statistically significant difference was found between the empathy levels of the participants in the occupational year variable. It has been observed that physical education teachers who have 16-20 years of professional experience have higher empathy levels. It has been determined that physical education teachers who have 21 years or more professional experience have the lowest empathy levels. Conclusion: As a result, it was determined that the empathy levels of physical education teachers were higher according to the gender variable, the empathy levels of male physical education teachers compared to female physical education teachers. In addition, it was determined that the level of empathy decreased as the professional year increased. Keywords: Physical Education Teacher, Empathic Tendency, Secondary Education
