Learning styles of secondary school students

It is aimed '' the surveying of the learning styles of secondary school students with this study. The sample of this study is formed by 887 secondary school students in city of Bolu. The learning styles scale is carried out on all the students in 8 -secondary- school in the central of Bolu.In the research, '' the Learning Styles Scale'' and '' Personal Information Form''developed by Gokdag (2004) is used as a data collecting tool. The data collected from the research is analysed in computer system by using SPPS programme. In anlayzing of the data, per cent frequency, arithmetic mean, independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance are used. Tukey HSD Multiple Compararison Test is used to determine the gruops which are different from the others. Statistically,there is a meaningful difference between the groups according to their gender,schhol type,grade level,interest to music or visual arts at the end of the survey (p<0,05). In comparison to the gender, there is an important difference on behalf of the girls at the sub-dimension of the visual and kinesthetic learning (p<0,05). According to the school types, auditory learning is on behalf of imam hatip high school against to science and social high school; in subdimension of visual learning is on behalf of imam hatip high school against to business and special talent exam schools; in subdimension of kinesthetic learning is on behalf of the imam hatip high school against the science, the social, the business and special talent exam school (p<0,05). According to the grade levels, subdimension of visual learning style is on behalf of 11th and 12th students against to 9th (p<0,05). According to the music interest,the subdimensions of auditory,visual and kinesthetic learning style are on behalf of those who are interested in music (p<0,05). According to the visual arts interest, subdimension of auditory,visual and kinesthetic learning styles are on behalf of those who are interested in visual arts (p<0,05). On the other hand,according to the educational levels of the students' families, there is a meaningful difference about the type of sport licence and the licenced years on behalf of those who have school sports licence in subdimension of learning styles (p<0,05).
