Investigation of secondary school students' perceptions of physical education course and physical education teachers' attitudes towards secondary school curriculum

"The aim of this research is to examine in depth the opinions of physical education teachers and students at the secondary school level regarding physical education and sports lessons. It is among the sub-goals of the study that the findings to be obtained within this framework will contribute to the determination of the weak and strong aspects of the physical education course and guide program development experts." "The population of this study consists of 206 physical education and sports teachers, 86 women and 120 men, working in public schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the center and districts of Balıkesir province in the 2023-2024 academic year, and a total of 220 physical education and sports teachers, 117 women and 103 men, studying in these schools." As a data collection tool, the "Physical Education Scale for Secondary School Students (PEQSS)", designed by Hung Chi Kwong at the University of Hong Kong in 1999, was used to understand student perception of physical education lessons and course evaluation. "Teacher Survey Form" created by Erdoğdu (2009) was used to explain how the Secondary School Physical Education course curriculum affects course practices and to evaluate the applicability of this program. In the survey conducted for students, according to gender, class and weekly lesson request variables; In the survey conducted for teachers, significant differences were detected in different sub-dimensions according to the variables of school equipment, in-service training, internet use at school and the district where the school is located.
