Investgation of the bullying tendencies and value preferences of middle school students according to level of taking physical education and sports course

School life brings various positive and negative effects on children. These effects continue in adult life even after school. This study aims to examine the bullying tendencies and core value preferences of middle school students according to their levels of taking physical education and sports lessons. In this context, the descriptive survey model was used. The universe of our research consisted of 280 female and 277 male students aged between 10 and 14 in Bitlis Center and Ahlat district in the 2024-2025 academic year. The stratified sampling method was preferred in sample selection. Personal Information Form, Schwartz Portrait Values Survey and Bullying Tendency Scale were used as data collection tools. In the study, the distribution of dependent variables according to the subunits of independent variables was examined in terms of normality test. The results show that there are significant differences between the students' portrait values perception scores and variables such as grade level, duration of taking physical education lessons, mother and father's education status, father's occupation status, income level and number of siblings. However, no significant difference was found between the students' portrait values perception scores with gender and mother's occupation status. With the students' Bullying Tendency scores; a significant difference was found between the variables of grade level, physical education lesson hours, mother's education level, father's education level, father's occupation status, income status, number of siblings, gender and mother's occupation status variables.
