Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the correlation between secondary school students' attitudes towards mathematics activities and their mathematics self-efficacy. In this research, correlational survey method, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used since the correlation between secondary school students' attitudes towards mathematics activities and their mathematics self-efficacy was examined. For this purpose, the study was carried out with 409 secondary school students studying in Sandıklı district of Afyonkarahisar province in 2019-2020 academic year. As a data collection tool; "Attitude Scale for Mathematics Activities" developed by Ocak and Dönmez (2010), "Mathematics Self-Efficacy Scale" developed by Abalı Öztürk and Şahin (2015) and personal information form were used.Personal information form and data obtained from scales were analyzed. According to the findings obtained from the analysis of the data, on the attitude scale towards mathematics activities; there was a significant difference in gender, class level, education level of parents and school type. In mathematics self-efficacy scale, a significant difference was found at the grade level. According to the results of the research, a moderate positive correlation was found between students' attitudes towards mathematics activities and self-efficacy. A positive correlation was found between attitudes towards mathematics activities and mathematics self-efficacy levels in terms of gender, class level, parental education level and school type variables. It was concluded that attitudes towards mathematics activities and gender, class level, parental education level and school type variables did not have a common effect on mathematics self-efficacy levels. As a result of the findings, the important of classroom environments in which students can actively participatein activities related to the acquisitions stated in the mathematics curriculum has emerged.
